Zero-Integrated-Field Electrophoresis (ZIFE) enables megabase-range DNA analysis in a standard agarose slab gel apparatus. ZIFE simultaneously switches field magnitude, direction, and pulse time so that the time-integrated net field is near zero - resolving DNA fragments from 15 kb to over 1.6 Mb that are unresolvable by conventional FIGE.

In a typical FIGE workflow, DNA fragments above ~450 kb compress into an unresolved band. ZIFE overcomes this by simultaneously switching the field magnitude, direction, and pulse time so that the net time-integrated field approaches zero — extending practical resolution to 1.6 Mb. Seven pre-validated protocols cover 0.5 kb to 1.6 Mb across both modes, and an Advanced Programming interface allows custom waveforms to be built and saved. The MegaPulse is well-suited for HMW genomic DNA QC ahead of long-read sequencing library prep.
